Stretching for a Healthy Back

With pain, there is always contracted muscles. Ancient yogis teach us to lengthen the muscles and strengthen the spine.
The morning session focuses on performing ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING with your client in order to overcome weakness, postural problems, local joint stamina and pain. Conditions of back and neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel, sciatica and foot pain will be demonstrated. Students will be provided a 30 minute protocol they can offer to their clients as an additional service or in combination with a regular massage session. Therapists will demonstrate this protocol throughout the day.

Recognizing how a simple emotion like 'STRESS' can create and aggravate pain to the point of surgery; as well as the growing global epidemic of dependency on prescription pills and opioids is what this course attempts to teach in building more awareness of the mind/body connection to pain.
Students will learn why the most important organ in the body, the brain, exerts a powerful influence on the health of the back and how massage therapists can play a critical role in their clients’ health and resurgence of a healthy pain-free back.

Fitness, Flexibility & Nutritional Fundamentals

Strengthening the core muscles of the body is essential to a stronger flexible back with better posture. Students will actively participate in various exercises they can teach clients in dealing with neck, upper and lower back pain issues.
In Chinese medicine the best way to rid pain is to move the Qi. Learn which way the Qi flows up, down and around the body in order to unblock the Qi and reduce pain. The most recent research studies providing evidence of greatest success in pain relief will be discussed. Meditation, Visualization and Qigong included.
The importance of nutrition cannot be understated. Eating for a stronger immune system and elimination of inflammation is paramount to dealing with pain in the body. When inflammation is removed, pain disappears.
